In the face of challenges from acceptance of one's vision and dreams, patriarchal challenges, and sustainability challenges, Sucheta believes in taking each challenge as an adventure she learns from. In the edited excerpts of the interview with The CEO Magazine, Sucheta shared her views on leadership, a woman's journey, and her organization's success story:
Sucheta: Every entrepreneur makes thousands of mistakes and learns from each of them. At the same time, they do not have to regret any of them. You should know your mistakes but you shouldn't regret them as negative emotions will eventually drive you downwards.
Mistakes have been my greatest teachers. So lessons cannot be regretted. Cherishing one's journey and regretting the decisions don't go together.
Sucheta: As pioneers in introducing an unheard-of staffing model in the Non-IT engineering sector, we believe in restructuring our business model and customizing our process in the least turnaround time to sync with the industry needs.
The constant effort towards identifying gaps daily and weekly is an approach that makes us unparalleled in the industry. We are working towards building a strong knowledge/ skill base in a solely process-oriented industry.
Sucheta: The key factors in building a team have been communication and trust. I had to understand their personalities and work towards synchronizing their goals with organizational goals. And in doing so, I was required to make them believe that I stand by them to help them become their better versions and give them the platform to implement their thoughts.
Sucheta: Motivation is sourced through knowledge. Eventually, it is the knowledge that leads to growth in career, financial growth, and respect in society. If this need is addressed by giving them opportunities to explore their potential and a platform to learn constantly and apply their learning, the team will remain motivated. Eventually, they will be able to feel the success invented and executed by them.
Sucheta: I would sound unreal if I said I never faced adversities or I never had a doubt. But the truth is I never felt any adversity was bigger than my strength or any doubt could not be cleared. So, now when I look back, I remember my lessons but not the problems or doubts in a big way. Adversities add spice to life.
Sucheta: Ven has been growing multifold by adding value to the industry. We intend to revolutionize the whole concept of staffing to a business model which will address the cost, skill, and time challenges of the industry on one side and up-gradation, visibility, and exposure challenges of job seekers on the other.
We intend to achieve this by introducing effective e-platforms to understand the fast-changing needs of the industry and setting up automation and digitalization in every aspect of talent acquisition, engagement, and management.
Sucheta: Ven Consulting has come a long way in breaking through the traditional realm of the staffing Industry. We have been able to introduce the modified concept of staffing in the most conventional industry of the Non-IT sector. The only question I ask myself after each breakthrough is "What next?" Stagnation is fatal. Progress is growth.
Sucheta: Leadership is the act of owning your people. You have to continuously strive at providing them and your organization a better future. You ought to be upgrading yourself continuously to guide others. Parenting and leadership carry similar traits except for few differences in approach and certain limitations.
Also, leadership is not limited to your team or family alone, it offers you an opportunity to mentor anyone you come across and make a difference in their lives. When you are a leader, you have to carry an ethical responsibility to contribute to society.
Sucheta: While the world tends to value self-contentment more than social responsibility, the day never comes when they perform the latter. It is because of the ever-changing definition of 'contentment' and 'enough'. I believe in giving back to society even when I have less and in different modes.
In my view, financially and intellectually, there is so much one can contribute to society. Giving is an act of showing gratitude for what is given by the almighty.
Sucheta: Consider being a female a blessing, it isn't a sin. Accepting defeat and despising upon self is a sin. Every gender has its challenges. Our growth is usually sacrificed to the age-old inbuilt practices of our society which have been accepted and protected for generations.
It will take a few more decades and every strong-headed woman to make a choice to be driven or to drive, but with humbleness and integrity towards her responsibilities. Impart high ambitions to both your sons and daughters. Teach your daughters how to be level-headed wherever required and offer them sky to reach out to otherwise. Teach your sons to come out of gender bias.
From an entrepreneurial or leadership lens, I believe, females can be good leaders as we naturally turn out to be multitaskers, emotionally strong, patient, and equipped with mentoring or training as an inert nature. Women aren't made leaders; they are born leaders who also know to follow any other leader with utmost humbleness. That maintains her distinctiveness.
