In a conversation with The CEO Magazine, Havish Madhvapaty talks about his venture, plans AHEAD, the corporate culture, innovation and more,

The CEO: What makes your venture different?

Havish: The factors that give us an edge are many namely completely customized Add-Ins created for Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word. We are able to bring our domain expertise and create solutions for various functional areas using our knowledge of VBA, Excel, and XML. We do Interventional training taken for organizations that is a combination of Classroom training and consulting.

We work with live client data, and client queries are resolved on the spot. We also have a robust background in statistical testing – and that allows us to have a more detailed insight during analytics. Our revenue model consists of Consulting Assignments (including Automation solutions, Advanced Analytics, and Dashboard creation), Advanced Analytics, and Visualization training.

The CEO: What nature of clients do you serve at present?

Havish: We serve a number of Major clients, to name a few Sterlite Power, DCM Shriram, BUSINESSWORLD, exchange4media, Nucleus Software, Cvent, Deloitte, PwC, and EY.

The CEO: What is the business problem the company hopes to solve with its solutions and offerings?

Havish: Our mission is to enable process efficiencies in all functional areas, which includes HR, Finance, and Operations etc. We drastically reduce process redundancies, improve TAT, and enable self-service Business Intelligence.

The CEO: What does innovation mean to you and your company?

Havish: We consider innovation as the improvement of organization processes and increasing efficiency. We enable teams to be self-empowered and get better at analytics.  We feel that there is still a lot that is possible with existing technologies (such as Microsoft Office). We see positive signs everywhere with respect to innovation. Easier access to information has also created a glut, and finding the right information at the right time is the key. We are still a young organization, and we like to challenge ourselves. We channel focus on learning new technologies, and constantly improving ourselves.

The CEO: What are the innovations that your company has brought into the industry?

Havish: Our work on Microsoft Excel automation is disruptive, based on our years of experience working with the software. The ability we have to be able to do programming on Microsoft Excel allows us the ability to create client solutions that are unique and non-replaceable.

The CEO: What is the driving force behind a start-up beside innovation?

Havish: Different start-ups have different driving forces, and these forces evolve with time. In the analytics and technology space, change is the only constant phenomenon. One has to keep innovating – it is key to success, having said that, constant innovation and being nimble is necessary. For a service company – creating your own various niches is very important as well.

The CEO: What are some of the biggest impediments to innovation in your organization or industry sector?

Havish: There are two biggest impediments to innovation, One – companies are joining the cause frantically just because new technology is a buzzword. This leads to failure, and Two – organizations are rigid. Technology continues to evolve rapidly – and organizations always have to think two steps ahead.

In spite of all the competition faced from the various boutique trainings firms (in training); Big 4 Professional Services (in automation); various IT companies such as HCL, Accenture (in Analytics) and more, Havish M. Consulting, in future is looking forward to getting retainer at clients for year-round analytics requirement.

They tripled in team size in just a year, and have added a number of feathers to their cap as well with recommendation received from Price water house Coopers and Ernst & Young. N the very first month of the acceleration of their venture they added three clients to their list because of the potential displayed.
