Indian Miss Universe Harnaaz Sandhu Brings Crown Home After 21 Years

On Monday, 13th December 2021, India woke up to the news of Harnaaz Sandhu’s crowning as the Miss Universe 2021. She beat 79 other divas from across the world including the first runner up Miss Paraguay Nadia Ferreira and second runner-up Miss South Africa Lalela Mswane.

Apparently, around the same year when Harnaaz was born in Punjab, Lara Dutta won this title 21 years ago as she represented India and graced the stage then with her presence. 2 decades later, 70th Miss Universe 2021, hosted in Eilat, Israel became special for India because of two divas, Harnaaz Sandhu and Urvashi Rautela.

Miss Universe 2021 was also making it to the headlines as Urvashi Rautela, a Bollywood actor, Serial Pageant Winner and the Indian representative for 2015 Miss Universe as a contestant joined the esteemed jury this Year.

She shared the stage hand-in-hand with Paraguay's Nadia Ferreira and South Africa's Lalela Mswane in the final moments before the announcement.

Who is Harnaaz Sandhu?

Drawing her inspiration from the global icon, Miss World winner, and philanthropist Priyanka Chopra, Ms Sandu has been a part of the fashion and entertainment industry with films Yaara Diyan Poo Baran and Bai Ji Kuttange.

She also likes to spend her spare time enjoying several activities like dancing, yoga, cooking, horse riding, and playing chess. She has been pageanting since her teenage and has won titles Miss Chandigarh 2017 and Miss Max Emerging Star India 2018, and Femina Miss India Punjab 2019, post which she competed in Femina Miss India.

Which Question won India 70th Miss Universe Title?

Question that was asked to Miss India in 70th Miss Universe 2021 was,

“Many people think that climate change is a hoax. What would you do to convince them otherwise?

In the questions answer round, Ms Sandhu was first asked to become forward and pick a name from a bowl. She was asked the crucial question about people’s mindset about climate change. Her answer was short but effective.

She said, “honestly my heart breaks to see how nature is going through a lot of problems and it's all due to our irresponsible behaviour and I totally feel that this is the time to take action and talk less because each action could either kill or save nature. "Prevent and protect" is better than "repent and repair" and this is what I'm trying to convince you guys today. Thank You!”

Hailing from Punjab, Harnaaz shared a video of Golden Temple with the Gurbani

She also shared a note thanking everyone who is a part of her journey.
