Chidambaram is married to Nalini Chidambaram, the daughter of Justice (Retd.) Palapatti Sadaya Goundar Kailasam of the Supreme Court and Mrs. Soundra Kailasam, a renowned Tamil poet and author. Nalini Chidambaram is a distinguished senior advocate practising in the Madras High Court and the Supreme Court of India.
The couple is proud parents to a son, Karti P. Chidambaram, who completed his BBA degree at the University of Texas, Austin, and holds a Master in Law from the University of Cambridge.
Karti is actively engaged in Tamil Nadu state politics as a member of the Congress Party's AICC. He is married to Dr. Srinidhi Rangarajan, a well-known Bharathanatyam dancer and medical doctor affiliated with the Apollo Group of Hospitals in Chennai. Karti and Srinidhi are blessed with a daughter named Aditi Nalini Chidambaram.
