Early Life and Education

Namita Thapar hails from Pune, Maharashtra, where she was born and raised. From a young age, she displayed a remarkable dedication to her studies, prioritising academics over other extracurricular activities during her school years.

After completing her primary education in a private school in Pune, she went on to enroll at Savitribai Phule Pune University, where she pursued and successfully obtained a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) degree.

Educational and Professional Journey

Namita's educational journey did not stop with her undergraduate degree. She embarked on a path of higher learning that would lay the foundation for her future success.

She initially pursued Chartered Accountancy (CA) through The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, which equipped her with a strong financial background.

Following her CA studies, Namita Thapar's quest for knowledge led her to the United States.

There, she embarked on a postgraduate journey that culminated in the achievement of her Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Fuqua School of Business, located in North Carolina. Armed with her newly acquired MBA, Namita began her professional career in the U.S.

During her time in the U.S., Namita held the position of Business Financial Lead in the Financial Department Planning of Glasgow and Guidant Corporation, which is now known as Abbott.

Her tenure at these companies spanned six years, during which she occupied various financial roles.

Return to India and Emcure Pharmaceuticals

In 2007, Namita Thapar decided to return to her roots in India. She made the pivotal decision to join her father's esteemed company, Emcure Pharmaceuticals Limited, based in Pune.

Her journey with Emcure commenced in the capacity of Chief Financial Officer (CFO), where she demonstrated her financial acumen and leadership skills.

Over time, Namita expanded her influence within the organisation, taking on key roles in Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A), Information Technology (IT), Global Compliance, Human Resources (HR), and Domestic Marketing.

Today, she stands as a crucial member of Emcure Pharmaceuticals Limited's Executive Board.

Namita Thapar now serves as the CEO of Emcure Pharmaceuticals and heads the company's India business. In this role, she manages a vast network of over 4,000 medical representatives across 15 critical therapeutic areas throughout India.

Entrepreneurial Ventures and Philanthropy

Beyond her role at Emcure Pharmaceuticals, Namita Thapar's influence extends to various entrepreneurial ventures and philanthropic activities. She is the owner of the Young Entrepreneur Academy, a franchisee of Incredible Ventures Limited, USA.

This academy is dedicated to teaching young entrepreneurs, aged between eleven to eighteen years, the ropes of business and entrepreneurship. Currently, the Young Entrepreneur Academy operates in six Indian cities, including Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Pune, Chennai, and Ahmedabad.

Namita's dedication to her community and the business world goes even further. She serves as a Board Member on the India Regional Advisory Board of the Fuqua School of Business, further contributing to the field of education and business development.

She is also a Board member of Finolex Cables and an active participant in the Young President's Organization (Pune).
