Cisco Systems: A Pioneering Journey

The turning point in Ullal's career came in September 1993 when Cisco Systems acquired Crescendo Communications, the company she was associated with at the time. This acquisition marked Cisco's debut in the switching market and set the stage for Jayshree Ullal's influential tenure.

At Cisco, Ullal played a pivotal role in establishing and expanding the Cisco Catalyst switching business.

Under her leadership as Vice President and General Manager of LAN switching in the Enterprise group, she spearheaded strategic initiatives in unified communications, IP telephony, content networking, and policy networking.

Her visionary approach led to the rapid growth of Cisco's Enterprise group, which evolved into a $5 billion business by 2000.

During her time at Cisco, Ullal facilitated approximately 20 mergers and acquisitions in the enterprise sector, contributing significantly to the company's expansion and diversification.

By 2005, Jayshree Ullal had assumed the position of Senior Vice President of the Data Center, Switching, and Security Technology Group at Cisco.
