Layam Group: Envisaging Human Resources into Human Relationships

G.S. Ramesh - Founder & Chairman - Layam Group

Layam Group had its humble beginning in 2007 by veteran Mr G.S. Ramesh. He has had a remarkable journey in the industry and is regarded as the ‘Man who redefined HR as Honesty in Relationship’.

His professional experience and expertise led him to start Layam Group, which he envisioned as his second innings after having worked as a senior HR Professional in leading companies across India.

As a keen observer of society and job aspirants in general, Mr G.S Ramesh realised that people with poor academic record but good life skills were unable to fulfil their career dreams.

Layam Group was started with an aim to give back to society and particularly help the aforementioned individuals fulfil their dreams of working in an MNC or big corporations.

Layam Group began its journey as an HR consultancy firm on 4 April 2007 in Chennai. Started with just 4 employees, the company has grown by leaps and bounds today both in terms of employee strength, and clients.

Most importantly, Layam Group has stayed true to their vision of giving back to the society by helping 15,000 candidates get a job they most genuinely deserve.

The Initiation of Layam Group

Under the leadership of Mr. G.S. Ramesh, Layam Group has emerged as a company of repute who operate on the tenets of cost, quality and productivity. As a man of deep integrity and impeccable ability, he has created an amiable atmosphere for his employees wherein exchange of ideas and thoughts are welcomed.

His strong leadership attributes have not only helped his team overcome several challenges with ease but has facilitated them in surpassing the expectations of clients and candidates alike. Catalyst for growth is not just their tagline but a drive that propels them to help their clients and candidates walk on the success path.

The business model for Layam Group is quite simple; Hire, Train and Deploy by handholding the Human resource and to make them employable.

The 100-member team at Layam has established a good rapport with several companies and industry stalwarts. Headquartered in Chennai, they have a firm footing across India with branch offices in Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune, Gurugram and representatives in Uttarakhand and Gujarat.

“Head Count to Brain Count”- A pioneering concept

The concept of Head Count to Brain Count, pioneered by Mr G.S. Ramesh, is aimed at tackling the quality issues regarding clients’ staffing requirements.

According to Layam Group, the brain count is the only thing that matters when filling a job. The brain count is ‘the right fit candidate’ for a specific job role. These candidates are trained by Layam Group. They undergo grooming for both skilled and unskilled job roles.

As mentioned earlier, Layam Group’s focus has always been on reducing cost, scaling productivity and achieving 100 percent quality for their clients.

What sets them apart is their focus on Brain count instead of Head count. They strongly believe that brain count level is diminishing at a faster pace than ever before. It’s an issue that cannot be overlooked or ignored. At Layam, they tackle this problem head-on.

Since inception, they have supplied manpower with intellect, knowing that a person who is talented and capable becomes an asset to the client. This Head Count to Brain Count strategy has been a driving force for Layam Group.

When asked how the team deals with failures and what helps them recuperate, they said that their aggressive pursuit of expansion occasionally causes the team to struggle and adhere to their approach. But once they accomplish the desired result and after they realise and appreciate the objective, they rebound.
