Ramya Bala - Partner, Tax EisnerAmper
Ramya Bala, EisnerAmper’s Right-shoring Tax Partner, is a passionate tax technologist and collaboration leader based in New York. With a master’s degree in computer science and accounting, Ramya brings over 15 years of experience serving asset management clients, including private equity funds, hedge funds, funds of funds, and investment advisors.
She provides tax advisory and compliance services to start-ups and established clients with U.S. and foreign operations.
Ramya leads the firm’s global tax right-shoring initiatives, including compliance and reporting tax processes, client onboarding, process automation, recruitment and professional development, quality, and risk management functions.
She also leads many of the firm’s tax technology initiatives and is a co-leader of the tax staff committee, facilitating internal training and mentoring staff.
Furthermore, Ramya is a volunteer for EisnerAmper Cares, the firm’s community volunteer organisation aimed at serving those in need through donations of employees’ time and skills to charitable, civic, and environmental projects.
Karthick Venkatakrishnan is the Managing Director of EisnerAmper India, based in Mumbai, and is responsible for overseeing the entire India operations, growth, office stewardship, client service initiatives, and talent maximisation across all departments.
As a qualified Chartered Accountant and a CAIA charter holder, he is a leader in the alternative investment industry, working closely with global hedge funds, private equity funds, real estate funds, funds of funds, general partnerships, management companies, and family offices.
Karthick also leads the strategy and management of India operations, creating a strong foundation and culture for EisnerAmper’s offices and colleagues in India. Prior to his current role, he oversaw the Bengaluru office and led the Fund Services practice.
Reflecting on the journey of EisnerAmper’s India practice, Ramya shares,
“If you are not doing things to set yourself up for success, you are not going to win”.
As the company grew, it faced an inflection point and recognised the need for disruptive innovation to fuel expansion. EisnerAmper’s leadership decided to incubate a Tax Practice in India, specifically focusing on Financial Services, Real Estate, and Personal Client Services.
However, the idea was met with skepticism due to complex tax rules and filing requirements imposed by the IRS. Despite the challenges, the team did not lose sight of their goal and created a robust framework of how work can be done remotely for clients.
They built a team that services clients from start to finish and integrates new team members from across the world into the cultural fabric of EisnerAmper.

The team prioritises adherence to GDPR data retention policies and builds customised applications on cloud platforms. Additionally, they are working on innovative tax solutions to alleviate the workload during the “busy season” and enable employees to focus on advisory services.
Karthick shares, “Changing Tax policies, Technology, and AI are all reshaping the tax and accounting industry. Several companies have started using AI and robotic process automation (RPA) to automate repetitive tasks, freeing up accountants to focus on high-value activities.”
For EisnerAmper, ensuring data security and safeguarding critical and sensitive data from cyber threats is a top priority. The team is transitioning into being holistic advisors to their clients, guiding businesses and supporting their growth.
