Amaravati, AP: Senior academic leaders at the National Institute of Design, Andhra Pradesh - An Institute of National Importance, (NID AP) launched Prof Dr Mahul Brahma’s 11th book “The Luxe Trilogy” at the institute. The launch was followed by a session on ‘Aesthetic Design Leadership in Luxury’ by the author, who is also a Visiting Professor with NID AP. The session was attended by the students and faculty members of the premier institute.

Prof Brahma is a Dean & Professor at NSHM Media School, India, Visiting Research Fellow at Bath Business School, Bath Spa University, UK and a Council Member and Fellow of the Commercial Education Society of Australia CESA. He is an Executive Committee Member of the Public Relations Society of India – PRSI Kolkata. He is a PhD, DBA and D.Litt. He is a TEDx Speaker, two-time Sahityakosh Samman Awardee and his other books include ‘Bharat, A Luxe Story’, ‘Aesthetic Leadership in Luxury’, ‘Quiet Luxe’, and ‘Mythic Value of Luxury’. 

Speaking on the occasion Prof Brahma said, “Design leadership, especially aesthetic design, plays a pivotal role in ‘The Luxe Trilogy’ and I am grateful to NID AP for launching my book in India. I am grateful to the academic leaders of NID AP for their support. The Luxe Trilogy is a multi-disciplinary exploration of luxury.”

“To become an aesthetic design leader, a design student needs to cultivate a CEO mindset with design as a core enabler,” Prof Brahma said while addressing the students.

The book was launched by senior academic leaders of the institution:

·         Mr. Rajiv Jassal, Vice-Chair (Integrated Design Services)

·         Dr. Abhishek Kumar, Head (Information Technology)

·         Ms. Swati Pandey, Academic Associate (Education)

·         Mr. Kurma Nadham, Discipline Lead (Communication Design)

Dr Abhishek Kumar said on the occasion, “We are happy to launch Prof Brahma’s book at our institute, especially given its focus on aesthetic design leadership and inter-disciplinarity. I believe the students will find the book insightful and a guide towards their leadership journey.”

The book is scheduled for launch in Somerset, UK later this year during his annual visit to Bath Business School as a Visiting Research Fellow.

In his address Prof Brahma shared anecdotes from the 1900s of how Indian Maharajas were the biggest consumers of global luxury brands such as LV, Cartier and Rolls Royce. India’s evolutionary journey in aesthetic leadership started way before any other nation. He stated the example of Steve Jobs and how he had established design culture in a tech company like Apple. And the rest is history. He encouraged the design students to develop a CEO mindset with design as core enabler.

‘The Luxe Trilogy’ is an authoritative, research-based writings spanning across two decades covered in three distinctive books tracing the journey of luxe from dazzle of the Maharajas to the darkness of the Inferno’s nine circles of hell. The essence of the trilogy comes from my writings on luxury, spanning over two decades, exploring the various facets of luxury from the perspectives of Sociology, Philosophy, Anthropology, History, and Economics, capturing its evolution in India, that is Bharat. It is the 11th book of luxury commemorating my journey as a luxury columnist and commentator. The trilogy is a multi-disciplinary exploration in understanding the true meaning of luxe.
