Author and academician Prof Mahul Brahma takes charge as Professor and Dean of NSHM Media School. Prior to this, he was Dean and Director of Adamas University School of Media and Communication.

Prof Brahma is also a Visiting Research Fellow at Bath Business School and School of Art, Film and Media at Bath Spa University in the UK. 

Prof Brahma said on his new position, “My father was a teacher and I am proud to follow his footsteps. I thank the Chief Mentor Mr Cecil Antony for this opportunity.

NSHM has a wonderful legacy and it is a dynamic institution. I am happy to be a part of its leadership team. I am confident I will transform the NSHM Media School into a centre of excellence that produces fine journalists, filmmakers and communicators.”

Prof Brahma is a two-time Sahityakosh Samman winning author and will be launching his eighth book ‘Aesthetic Leadership in Luxury’ later this month in the United Kingdom.

The book is a research-based manual for a CXO as well as an organisation to transform into an Aesthetic Leader. This book aims at understanding the origin and scope of aesthetic leadership and includes his lectures delivered in the UK.

The book explores the uniqueness of businesses that are dependent on beauty, art, design and why these need unique leadership acumen wherein the leader himself or herself has to be an integral part of generating the competitive advantage – aesthetics.

It also explores the strategic perspective of leading luxury brands with a certain finesse that only aesthetics can provide, especially while handling multi-billion-dollar ‘Quite Luxury’ with Aesthetes and Connoisseurs. 

Prof Brahma was chief editor of publications and head of CSR, corporate communications and branding at a Tata group company mjunction for nearly eight years.

He has two decades of experience in journalism and communications. He has held editorial positions in leading media companies such as The Economic Times, CNBC TV18 group, ABP, and Reuters.

Prof Brahma is a TEDx speaker on mythic value of luxury. He is a luxury commentator, columnist and author of eight books – Aesthetic Leadership in Luxury, The Mythic Value of Luxury, Mostly Missing: Be Silly Be Slow, How to Communicate Strategically in Corporate World, Quarantined: Love in the time of Corona, and The Luxe Trilogy comprising Decoding Luxe, Dark Luxe and Luxe Inferno.

He is a PhD and D.Litt and has won several awards in literature, academics, communications and CSR. He is an alumnus of Bath Spa University, UK, IIM Calcutta, MICA, University of Cambridge Judge Business School, St Xavier’s College, Satya Sai University, and University of Calcutta. His first short film as an actor was screened at Cannes Film Festival.

He is an actor and has acted in the latest film by Anik Dutta “Aparajito” based on Satyajit Ray and he holds a single-digit handicap in golf.
