Ramesh Aiyyangar - Founder - Tech Write Pro
Progress in any field begins when someone decides to give back more than they take. For nearly four decades, this belief has guided Ramesh Aiyyangar, the Founder of Tech Write Pro, in his journey of simplifying complexity and uplifting technical communicators across India. Built on this foundation, Tech Write Pro has emerged as a premier technical writing and training company dedicated to empowering technical communicators.
A career spanning nearly four decades in communication and technical communication is not only his profession, it is something he has loved and continues to love every moment of. From the very beginning, his approach to work has been simple: when you receive knowledge, you pass it on. When you gain experience, you share it. And when you grow, you take others along. Over the years, Ramesh has contributed to 15+ Fortune 100 high-tech companies, including IBM, Veritas, Symantec, Apigee, Capgemini, Persistent, HCL, Reltio and many others, with more than 15 years in leadership roles.
For over 25 years, he has mentored and coached thousands of technical communicators across India, and his association with the Society for Technical Communication (STC) for more than two decades gave him a platform to promote the profession globally. He also served as President of the STC India Chapter in 2013 and 2018. During this journey, he was honoured with the Fellow of STC, the highest recognition for a technical communicator. Even while working full-time, he continued to build platforms for others. In 2018, he started the Institute for Technical Communicators of India (ITCI), a social media community created to help technical communicators, completely free of cost. When COVID-19 deeply affected the IT industry and technical communication professionals, his resolve to empower the community grew stronger and that dream took shape as Tech Write Pro. “I love technical communication unconditionally. Simplifying the complex, and elevating it, is my living, be it technical communication or life.” This belief continues to guide him as he works towards elevating the art of technical communication and inspiring knowledge sharing across India.
Tech Write Pro was officially incorporated on June 4, 2023, but the intention behind it had taken shape much earlier. Operating entirely through digital and virtual platforms, the company focuses heavily on education and upskilling, since staying relevant in the IT industry is now a continuous process. Webinars, online sessions and conferences, both online and offline, form a major part of its work. Professionals from multinational companies such as IBM, Oracle, Cisco, Intel, HPE, Siemens, HCL, TCS and Wipro regularly attend its events, while organisations including PayU, HCL, HPE, Whatfix and Digital.ai have sponsored its offline programmes. In a field where clarity and accuracy determine impact, Tech Write Pro positions itself not merely as a documentation service, but as a partner in elevating the profession. True to the words of Pablo Picasso, “The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away.” Tech Write Pro exists to do exactly that.
At its core, Tech Write Pro functions as both a technical writing company and a training provider. It offers expert-led documentation services along with structured training programmes designed for aspiring and experienced writers looking to refine their skills. What defines Tech Write Pro is not just what it offers, but how it operates. The company’s culture is defined by its values of respect, commitment, ethics and transparent communication. Behaviour, Ramesh believes, must be driven by values rather than directives. “Open, honest and effective communication is essential to achieving defined goals,” he says. Leadership within the organisation is aligned with the mission: understand the vision clearly and help others align with it too.
Quality remains a key differentiator. Over time, participants, clients and members of the community have consistently acknowledged the clarity of instruction, depth of knowledge and precision in delivery.
As a proprietary and fully bootstrapped startup, Tech Write Pro operates at a micro level with a clear purpose of giving back to the technical communication community. Most educational events are conducted online with only a nominal participation fee, and offline events depend entirely on sponsorships. At times, the lack of sponsors limits the frequency of offline programmes, but the vision has never been compromised. Instead, the company relies on social media and community networks to create awareness, reach out to organisations and educate them about both the profession and the purpose of these initiatives. “It doesn’t always yield immediate results,” he says, “but persistence does.”
The startup ecosystem has its own challenges. To stay agile, Tech Write Pro draws strength from knowledge and collaboration. The company is supported by experts from the IT industry who actively participate in its training sessions and knowledge-sharing programs. In just two years, Tech Write Pro has built a strong presence across LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube and Twitter, with over 1,300 followers on its LinkedIn company page and more than 2,000 members across its community groups. It has conducted nearly 30–40 online events featuring leading technical communicators, experts and industry leaders, with thousands of participants attending across offline and virtual formats.
Their journey has also been recognised at a global level. In September 2023, Ramesh received the Glory of India Award from the Indian Achievers Forum, and he was listed as one of the 10 brilliant and inspiring technical writers globally by an international technical writing newsletter.
Since its inception, Tech Write Pro has placed AI at the centre of its educational efforts. The company has conducted several training programmes and events focused on helping technical communicators understand AI and adopt it within their documentation workflows. These initiatives continue today, led by experts from the technical communication field and allied domains.
For Ramesh, one of the core reasons behind starting the company was to create meaningful change, not to become an entirely commercial organisation. Their mission to empower technical communicators in India with knowledge, help and support drives every decision, programme and interaction. Looking ahead, with the disruption in the IT sector and rapid changes due to AI, the goal is to equip technical communicators with the skills and tools needed to adapt to the changing IT sector, understand new technologies, integrate AI into documentation workflows and prepare themselves for emerging roles within the industry. The focus is not only on learning AI but on learning to evolve with it.
Ramesh believes the future belongs to those willing to take initiative. Reflecting on his journey, he shares his advice for aspiring entrepreneurs: “I would say the younger generation should become entrepreneurs and create jobs instead of waiting for jobs. We have a conducive environment in India, and MSME provides all support.”
He concludes by underlining the purpose that drives every programme, training, and initiative at Tech Write Pro, stating, “The mission to elevate the art of technical communication and inspire knowledge sharing continues.”
