Advocate Radhika Thapar Bahl
Although women have had to work hard to create a name for themselves in every profession, there are some traditionally male-dominated fields like law, where the struggle has been even tougher. Throughout history, the legal world hasn’t been welcoming to women. Although justice is all about treating everyone equally, at its very core, this space has demanded more from women. The entire journey, from studying law and becoming a lawyer to building a reputation and leading in this space, is not easy for a woman.
Yet, amid all these challenges, there are a few women who have managed to rise above all odds and created a legacy that will be an inspiration for the generations to come. Advocate Radhika Thapar Bahl is one of those women who faced each challenge and turned it into an opportunity to lead and inspire others. Today, she’s not just known as a lawyer but also as a founder, a guide, and most importantly a woman whom others can look upon to dream bigger.
Established in 2012, Fertility Law Care is a full-fledged legal consultancy organisation headquartered in Gurugram, Haryana. FLC is one of India’s leading organisations in reproductive law, offering clients a network of high-quality, result-oriented legal, financial, and corporate advisory services. The firm is known for its local expertise, positive and practical suggestions, and its excellence, integrity, and confidentiality.
The firm believes in building trusted relationships. Every client is assigned a case manager to assure quality service and complete satisfaction. With experienced and skilled professionals, FLC provides timely, responsive support in all medico-legal matters to the clients.
Fertility Law Care provides strategic legal solutions related to ART, surrogacy, MTP, PCPNDT, and other ethical regulations. The firm also offers support in litigation, drafting, compliance, and organisational policies such as POSH and SOPs. As an association, FLC is guided by its fundamental values of honesty, excellence, and added value. Its structured work plans, specialised resources, and attention to internal controls help clients operate more effectively and with legal assurance.
Advocate Radhika Thapar Bahl, the founder and chief mentor at FLC, is a recognised expert across India and globally. She champions the cause of women and child welfare, and her contributions to legal reforms, especially in fertility preservation, have been included in the ART act.
With a strong foundation and visionary leadership, Fertility Law Care remains a trusted legal partner in the reproductive and healthcare ecosystem.
Like many young lawyers starting their careers in the world of litigation, Radhika began her journey handling regular civil matters like property disputes, contracts, and family law. But in 2007, something changed. A client approached Radhika with an unusual case; they wanted to pursue surrogacy in India. At the time, there was very little legal clarity around the subject and almost no set precedent to guide such cases.
That single case introduced Radhika to a majorly under-represented and often misunderstood area of law, reproductive rights. She immersed herself in the case, studying, researching and creating a legal framework. What started as one case soon became her calling.
Over the years, Radhika developed her expertise in reproductive law that includes surrogacy, adoption, ART (Assisted Reproductive Technology), and the rights of women and children under the JJ Act. She became a trusted name for individuals, couples, hospitals, ART banks, and clinics who need help navigating the reproductive law space.
Today, she is the founder of not just one but two firms, Fertility Law Care and Lex Matrix Consultants. Both her firms are dedicated to guiding clients through the matters of reproductive law. And in a country where this niche area of law is still evolving, she stands out as a pioneer. So much so, that the term “Fertility Lawyer” is now proudly associated with her.
The legal industry has always been a male-dominated industry. Although the situation has improved somewhat, when Radhika started her career in the industry, it was a tough space for women. The challenges were both societal and structural, including long and odd hours of work, limited numbers of women in leadership roles and the constant pressure to prove her worth. However, her family became her pillar of strength, from understanding the unpredictable work hours to standing by her side during her motherhood phase. With their encouragement and support, Radhika remained committed to her passion for justice and steadily made a name for herself in the legal industry.
Balancing her personal and professional life has not been easy for Radhika either. She acknowledges that maintaining a healthy work-life balance, especially in a field like law, is a tough call. Here again, her supportive family made a world of difference. But what truly helped her was building a set pattern of working style. By adhering to a set routine, she manages to bring some stability into her ever-demanding profession.
Fertility Law Care is India’s first-ever legal consultancy dedicated to reproductive laws, a distinction that sets it apart in the legal industry. With more than a decade of being operational, the firm has made a name for itself in an area that demands both legal precision and deep sensitivity.
One of the core values that defines FLC is transparency. The team believes in being upfront and clear with their clients; it helps build trust from the very first interaction. This, combined with a strict professional code of conduct, has helped the firm develop long-term relationships with clients.
FLC’s working style is another key differentiator. The firm follows a structured, strategy-driven approach where every assignment begins with a detailed work plan that is shared and discussed with the client before execution. This ensures clarity, avoids surprises, and focuses efforts where they matter most. Legal issues are handled through disciplined analysis, and wherever needed, special legal documentation is created to address specific concerns with care.
The firm goes beyond standard legal work. Suggestions for improving internal procedures and management controls are often part of their feedback, especially for medical institutions. Their team is trained not just to solve problems but to identify practical improvements that can help clients operate more efficiently and reduce risks in the long run.
With its expertise in a wide range of laws, FLC supports clients across all court levels and also assists in drafting agreements, SOPs, and compliance frameworks. Clients benefit not just from FLC’s legal knowledge but from the team’s understanding of both local and international best practices. The goal is simple: to provide efficient, high-quality service that helps clients stay legally secure while growing with confidence.
The legal world keeps evolving with laws and regulations changing continuously, and staying updated is a necessity. For Radhika and her team at Fertility Law Care, staying updated with legal changes is a part of their everyday practice. As she puts it, “Once you’re in the field and practising regularly, you really have no choice but to stay on top of every new change and update.”
Technology plays a big role in this. With the help of technology, the team is regularly updated with the latest amendments, case laws, and regulatory changes. Apart from this, Radhika relies on her dedicated research team, along with her own continuous learning and on-ground experience.
With over two decades of experience in the legal field, Radhika specialises in medico-legal issues, particularly in Assisted Reproductive Techniques (ART). Over the years, she has achieved several milestones, including,
