Ishwar Kumhar - Founder - Brandworks Technologies Pvt. Ltd.
India has always been a big consumer of electronics, but local design and manufacturing often lagged behind. That’s where Brandworks Technologies comes in. Founded in 2017 by Ishwar Kumhar and Nikita Kumawat, Brandworks has been transforming the electronics landscape with innovative products, a rapidly growing manufacturing ecosystem, R&D, and creating a workplace where technology and people thrive together.
Ishwar Kumhar’s journey in electronics began with his B.Tech from NIT Jaipur in 2007. After a brief stint in corporate jobs, he launched ekmatra.store, a B2B platform supplying electronics to corporates across India and globally. This venture helped him understand sourcing, logistics, and the gaps in India’s electronics market.
By 2017, Ishwar noticed a critical gap in local design and manufacturing capabilities. “I knew electronics demand , but building products in India was difficult due to lack of capabilities and design expertise,” he says. This gap sparked the idea of Brandworks Technologies.
Initially, manufacturing was only meant to support their platform. But during Covid-19, the team pivoted to essential devices across India. That experience strengthened their manufacturing and design capabilities, laying the foundation for the company’s rapid growth.
What began as a small setup has today evolved into a full-fledged electronics design and manufacturing company with a dedicated R&D centre in Bengaluru and a 3.2 lakh sq. ft. mega facility. Brandworks Technologies started with charging solutions, one of the fastest-selling categories on their platform. “There was no fixed plan in the early days — we started with what worked,” recalls Ishwar.
As the company matured, they shifted their approach. Today, every new category is backed by research, market studies, and collaboration with semiconductor/chipset solution companies to understand future roadmaps. This strategy has paid off. From charging solutions, Brandworks quickly expanded into audio devices and has since diversified into fintech POS, AI-driven hardware, IoT solutions, surveillance systems, and solar inverters. Operating as a design-led manufacturer (ODM), Brandworks provides end-to-end solutions for global brands.
Brandworks Technologies has built a culture that puts people at the centre. The company follows a “people builds” philosophy, with an open, collaborative environment where there are no cabins. Everyone works on the same floor, making communication easy and transparent.
One of the most striking aspects of Brandworks is its workforce composition, with nearly 70% of employees being women, many of them working on the factory floor in precision-driven roles. “In manufacturing, attention to detail and precision are critical, and women have naturally excelled in these areas,” says Ishwar. This inclusive approach has not only shaped the company’s identity but has also turned it into a magnet for talent.
After years of being bootstrapped and profitable, Brandworks recently raised $7 million in Series A funding. The capital is being invested in a new R&D centre and in developing products that are still largely imported but can be built in India.
“Brandworks is working very hard, and in the coming months you will see many new initiatives,” says Ishwar. “We’re now tapping into large global customers who have never manufactured in India before, and with the ecosystem being built here, they are coming.”
The roadmap includes AI-based hardware, robotics, IoT, surveillance systems, and solar inverters, categories the team believes will define the future. As Ishwar puts it, “Whatever category we enter, we build technology faster than others, so adoption is strong. AI hardware and audio solutions are our next big focus.”
With revenues growing at over 110% year-on-year, Brandworks is preparing to play a much larger role in India’s electronics manufacturing journey.
