In the early 1980s, West Bengal had very few opportunities for quality private technical education. Every year, thousands of talented students left the state in search of better prospects elsewhere, creating a steady brain drain. He also became the first Indian to receive the title of Honorary Academician from the Accademia Albertina di Belle Arti di Torino, Italy, as a Maecenas (Patron of the Arts), recognising his contributions to education, culture and the arts.

Looking ahead, Mr. Roychowdhury envisions Techno India as a nationally transformative knowledge ecosystem that extends well beyond its strong roots in Eastern India. His focus remains on expanding multidisciplinary education, strengthening global partnerships and building future-ready ecosystems across emerging disciplines while continuing to grow the Group’s presence in healthcare, sports, fashion, skill development and cultural initiatives. At the heart of this expansion lies a simple philosophy: institutions should create opportunities that outlive their founders.

That belief also defines Mr. Roychowdhury’s work as an accomplished author. Through bestselling English and Bengali books spanning literature, travel, history and biographies, he has continued to celebrate knowledge, culture and human potential beyond the boardroom.
