Every year the third Sunday of June is observed as a Father's Day.  It is a special day to honor fathers for their uncountable contributions and celebrate fatherhood, paternal bonds, and the influence of fathers in the community.

Many times, it happened that the role of the father is considered as secondary as compared to a mother's although he is just as important in a child's life.

A father is an exemplary man for all daughters while for sons, he is their favorite. Although this day is observed on different dates globally, several countries commemorate this day on the third Sunday in June. This Day, people strive hard to make their fathers feel special.

Some spend some quality time with their fathers, while others give cards, flowers or other gifts like apparel or sporting equipment, or luxury food items and many more.

The idea of Father's Day is not a traditional custom; it is comparatively a modern holiday, so different families have a distinctive style of celebration. It can be created ranging from a simple phone call or greetings card to large parties honoring all father figures in an extended family.

History of Father's Day

This day remembers the contribution of fathers towards families and society at large. The concept of father's day was presented by Ms Sonora Dodd, from Spokane; whose father Henry Jackson Smart single-handedly raised Sonora and five of her siblings when their mother died.

Sonora Smart Dodd was inspired by the American Mother's Day celebrations to organize a day to admire mothers. In the USA, Father's Day has been marked in June since 1910.

The celebrations in the United Kingdom and other countries are thought to have been influenced by the American custom of Father's Day. This is in contrast to Mother's Day, which has a very distinct story in the United States and the United Kingdom.

Despite the fact, in India, Father's day is just begun; it is celebrated with the same enthusiasm and energy as in the UK, US, and other countries.

Being a father is no piece of cake, but an incredibly fulfilling job, and letting Dad realize how important he is, makes his job even more rewarding. Father's Day is the best time of year to praise the most loving and caring men you appreciate all of his priceless guidance and unconditional support.

Do not just give him a gift but present your valuable time to him, go for walk with him, spend some quality and time and create memories.

A father is neither an anchor to hold us back, nor a sail to carry us there, but a guiding light whose devotion shows us the right path.
