21st June, Friday, Vat Savitri Vrat

Savitri Vrata, also known as Savitri Brata or Savitri Amavasya, is a revered fasting day that commemorates the virtuous deed of Savitri, who rescued her husband, Satyavan, from the clutches of the god of death, Yama. This observance takes place on the new moon day in the month of Jyeshtha.

Married Hindu women partake in this tradition, fasting to invoke blessings for the long and healthy life of their husbands. The celebration of Savitri Vrata is particularly prominent in Indian states such as Odisha, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and in Nepal.
