When was the company formed? How did you/ the company generate this idea to set up this organization? 

Viral:The Interior People was formally established in 2013 as a restructure of an existing trading enterprise. The idea was to grab the market opportunity of establishing an organized wall covering market & tap a major share of the existing interior paints market as an early or first entrant.

We saw a huge industry opportunity as the interior wall décor segment was dominated by paints, consumers were looking for more innovative products, there was not a single established brand PAN India & the trade/industry was highly unorganized. We saw a clear opportunity to invest and harvest this in a strategic manner.

How does the company build a successful customer base?

Viral:We believe space designing is a very personalized business & the whole process of delivery has to be experiential, right from design to installation to service. We've excelled at this art & are in continuous pursuits to keep reinventing this part of business. We love to keep our customers excited and on the edge with the right brand sentiment & undiluted service mindset. We bring in a lot of experiential offers in the Festive seasons.

How do you see the company changing in one year?

Yamini:With being fully tested & launched into the market we see a huge opportunity to increase the awareness of wall covering products in the consumer market directly. With a systematic advertising & marketing mix we'll be able to activate the consumer market in a strong way.

This is a 3 forked marketing strategy which will enable us to control the major share of the wall covering trade in India. Of course timing & momentum would be the 2 major weapons in this war footing mode.

What's the most important thing you're working on right now, and how are you making it happen?

Viral:As of now we're primarily focusing on the post launch marketing & advertising efforts for in the consumer as well as the trading market in parallel. We've been quite successful in these pursuits & are excited about the response we're getting from the market.

Apart from that we're also working on bringing back some very interesting yet forgotten building materials in the décor space with a contemporary twist ofcourse. We cannot discuss much on this due to IP related issues but they would be  game changing productsfor sure.

What is your vision for the company?

Yamini: We're in strong pursuits to establish The Interior People as the first organized wall covering trading brand, while enabling http://www.idecorwala.comas pro-consumer wallpaper & wall cover marketplace in India by tapping a major share of the captive interior paint industry which is majorly dominated by the big 4 – Asian Paints, Nerolac, Berger and Nippon.

Please tell us about Road Map and Future of your organizations.

Yamini:We're now focusing on establishing The Interior People as a B2B manufacturing & trading brand for its range of interior décor products while will be a B2B2C pro-consumer brand that will drive the overall trade volumes.

We're also considering a demerger in the brandsso that it is easy to operate them independently.

What do you hope to accomplish within the next year?

Viral:For now we're laser focused and on a mission to position as a leading online portal for all your innovative and alternative wall décor products with a systematic affiliated supply chain network PAN INDIA.

What was your journey like to get where you are?

Viral:One word – 'Adventure'. It has had its own experiences, learning, awakening, evolution, disappointment, sacrifices, drama, everything required for a blockbuster.

Tell me how you've approached change.

Viral:Initially I used to approach change with paranoia and aggression but eventually & ironically it changed me into an opportunist who'd scavenge the best out of what life throws. I guess I did comply with Darwin's law of the survival of the fittest.

What was the most difficult lesson you have learned as an entrepreneur?

Viral:That the entrepreneur has to feed all his men, partner & associates first & then keep the rest for himself, if anything is left. In other words, company & business comes first, individual interests are last on the list.
