Prime Minister Modi Launches the "Meri Mati Mera Desh" Movement

Paying Tribute to India's Heroes

During the 103rd installment of his 'Mann Ki Baat' on July 30, 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced the "Meri Mati Mera Desh" movement as a gesture of honor to India's brave martyrs.

This initiative, set to kick off on August 9, involves collecting soil from diverse regions of the nation and bringing it to Delhi. As India approaches its 76th Independence Day on August 15, this campaign adds a fresh dimension to the festivities.

Traditions of the Independence Day Celebration

Independence Day is significant for billions of Indians, characterised by activities like flying kites and raising the national flag. The "Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan," launched by the Central government last year, further amplified citizens' enthusiasm for displaying the Tricolor at their homes.

Introduction of the "Meri Mati Mera Desh" Movement

The government, through the "Meri Mati Mera Desh" movement, presents a novel approach to commemorating Independence Day. This endeavour, starting on August 9, 2023, and continuing until Independence Day, is designed to pay homage to the heroes of the nation who made the ultimate sacrifice for India's freedom.

Prime Minister's Unveiling

In the 103rd edition of his monthly radio program "Mann Ki Baat," Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the "Meri Mati Mera Desh" movement. This initiative stands as a tribute to the everlasting memory of the martyrs who laid down their lives for the country.

Honouring the Eternal Martyrs

The movement encompasses a range of activities taking place across India to honour these immortal martyrs. Special inscriptions bearing the names of these heroes will be placed in numerous village panchayats throughout the nation, serving as a lasting tribute.

The "Amrit Kalash Yatra"

A notable facet of the movement is the "Amrit Kalash Yatra." This procession involves transporting soil from villages, enclosed in 7,500 'Kalash,' to Delhi.

Additionally, plants from various regions will join this procession. The soil and plants from these Kalash will form an "Amrit Vatika" near the National War Memorial in Delhi.

Unity Symbolized by "Amrit Vatika"

The envisioned "Amrit Vatika" will symbolise the essence of 'Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat,' promoting interaction and mutual understanding among people from different states and Union Territories through pairing.

Pledge for the Future

Prime Minister Modi urges every citizen to participate in the "Meri Mati Mera Desh" movement, emphasising the importance of comprehending the innumerable sacrifices made for the nation's freedom.

Through this participation, individuals commit to fulfilling the "five resolves," as mentioned in his previous year's 'Panch Prana' address.

Installation of Plaques and Community Engagement

The movement includes installing unique plaques called 'Shilaphalakam' in cities and villages, commemorating local freedom fighters, defence personnel, CAPF members, and police personnel who made sacrifices. This initiative underscores community involvement and remembrance.

Execution of the Campaign and State Contributions

Throughout villages and cities, the collection and transportation of soil will take place, culminating in the arrival of around 8,000 urns of soil in Delhi.

States such as Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra are actively preparing to contribute to the campaign's success through various activities and events.

Conclusion

The "Meri Mati Mera Desh" movement is a remarkable initiative to honour the nation's martyrs and celebrate India's journey towards freedom and unity.

With citizens from all corners of the country participating, this movement aims to cultivate a deeper respect for the sacrifices that have shaped the nation's identity.
