Early Life and Struggles

Born to Ahmed Jan, a clerk, and Abnam Ahmed, a homemaker, Shahbaz had a rather modest upbringing. Against the wishes of his parents, he decided to forgo his engineering studies to pursue his dreams in cricket. However, Shahbaz didn't have it easy. To sustain himself in the pursuit of his passion, he moved to Kolkata, where he lived in cramped quarters with fellow aspiring cricketers, taking odd jobs like washing utensils to make ends meet.

Journey to Recognition

Shahbaz's cricketing journey took shape in the second division in Kolkata, where he caught the attention of his coach, Partha Pratim Chowdhury, through the recommendation of first-class cricketer Pramod Chandila. Under Partha's guidance, Shahbaz honed his skills at the Tapan Memorial Club, Kolkata's renowned cricket academy. His talent soon garnered recognition when he came under the mentorship of Bengal's seasoned cricketers like Manoj Tiwary and Arun Lal.

Notable among his achievements is his Ranji Trophy hat-trick against Hyderabad in January 2021, a feat that underscored his potential.

Indian Premier League Stint

Despite modest outings initially, his breakthrough moment came in the 2021 season when he clinched three wickets in a single over against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, earning accolades for his performance. His subsequent stint with the Royal Challengers Bangalore and later with the Sunrisers Hyderabad has further cemented his stature as a valuable asset in the IPL circuit.
