Beyond his contributions to infrastructure, Visvesvaraya played a crucial role in establishing the Bangalore Engineering College, which was later renamed the Visvesvaraya Technological University in his honour. His vision also extended to industrialisation, founding the Mysore Iron and Steel Works, one of India’s first iron and steel mills. His tenure as the Diwan of Mysore from 1912 to 1918 was marked by rapid economic and social development, further cementing his legacy as the “Father of Modern Mysore.”
